You know what I hear more than anything else when a new client walks through the studio door?

“I’m not photogenic.”

Not “I don’t feel beautiful,” though that’s often underneath it. Not “I’m nervous,” though the tremble in their voice says plenty. But that phrase, almost like a disclaimer. A warning. A soft apology for existing in front of a camera. Somewhere along the line, most of us were taught that being photogenic meant fitting into a narrow mold. Flawless skin. The right angles. A body that already looks filtered before the shutter ever clicks.

But the truth? Photogenic isn’t a trait. It’s not something you’re born with or left without. It’s not a checklist of features or poses. It’s simply the result of being seen by someone who actually knows how to look. That mother in the image above? She almost didn’t book the session. She told me she didn’t know how to pose, didn’t think she could “pull off sexy,” wasn’t sure her body was one that deserved to be photographed at all.

And then we made art like this.

What changed?

Not her body. Not her wardrobe. Not her face. What changed was the way she was held in that moment. The way she let herself be vulnerable enough to be seen. The way she trusted me to show her what was always there. Most people aren’t afraid of the camera. They’re afraid of what it might confirm. But the right image doesn’t confirm the lie. It breaks it.

You are not unworthy of being photographed. You’re not too old, too big, too awkward, too scarred. You’re just someone who hasn’t been truly witnessed yet. So no, you’re not “not photogenic.” You’re just not done discovering how powerful you look when someone sees you like art instead of a mistake to be fixed.

And that’s where I come in.

Come find what it is like to be seen.
